Major Stanley Kruter was in the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001. He was in his office in the E Ring, which faces west, the direction Flight 77 reportedly approached from. At 9:40 AM when the Pentagon was struck he was standing by the window. But the question that he keeps asking himself is,...why didn’t he see it?
An overheard conversation results in thinking Major Kruter was an eyewitness to the devastating event. Major Kruter is summoned before a Department of Defense hearing in order to ascertain what he witnessed. When asked if he saw Flight 77 hit the Pentagon Major Kruter responds, ‘Others saw it. From where I was standing, how could I not have?’ Major Kruter’s response is officially recorded and thereby sealing his fate.
But Major Kruter is obsessed by the fact that in spite of being by the window facing the exact location that the 757 was reported to have struck the Pentagon, he does not remember seeing it. Stanley convinces himself that his lapse of memory is possibly the residue of a mental problem from his military past. Recognizing the symptoms Major Kruter seeks psychiatric help to deal with a possible bout of hallucination but soon discovers that the prescribed meds and therapy provides no help.
Also on September 11, British journalist Andrew Porter was in Washington, D.C. gathering information, for a story he is doing on the American political system. Porter finds himself in the right place at the right time with the biggest story of his career. After close scrutiny of the reported events of that day however, Porter is convinced that the official government version does not add up. Seeking out witnesses to the tragedy Porter finds Major Kruter and confides in him that on closer scrutiny the official account just doesn’t make sense. But Major Kruter is unable to give Porter any firsthand information regarding the incident.
Major Kruter then makes a decision. In order to make sense of why, in spite of his vantage point, he is unable to remember seeing Flight 77 hit the Pentagon, he decides to try to put the pieces together himself. Not so much as to dispel Porters outlandish insinuations regarding the government’s version of the events of 9/11, but more to convince himself that he is not battling his inner demons from the past and prove to himself that his mental health is in tact.
But Major Kruter’s search for the truth only results in more questions, the answers he admits to himself do not serve his country well. Stanley surprisingly finds himself turning to Porter for the answers. A true patriot, Major Kruter is devastated at Porter’s findings. And even worse, he’s dismayed that his own findings support that of Porter’s. Stanley is now torn between exposing this information and letting the truth be known, or keeping silent and allowing their deductions to go unknown for the good of the country.
Porter’s search for the truth about what in fact happened on September 11th, has lead him to some sensitive places and his prying has not gone unnoticed and placing those in authority on alert. Now watchful of Porter’s activities, his contact with Major Kruter arouses suspicion deeming Major Kruter guilty by association.
Major Kruter is summoned to a Department of Defense hearing again and forced to admit that he did not see a 757 hit the Pentagon and adds that in his opinion a 757 never in fact hit the Pentagon at all. The line of questioning alerts Stanley that he is for some unknown reason suspected of wrongdoing. Stanley returns to his office and is shocked to discover that his diaries containing his thoughts on Flight 77 and a disc that Porter gave him containing all the information he has gathered are all missing. Stanley rushes to find Andrew Porter but discovers he has disappeared.
Stanley is brought to trial on charges of perjury and willfully misleading a criminal investigation found, guilty and sentenced to five years in prison. But Stanley never serves out his sentence and is murdered in prison shortly after.
The events of September 11th, 2001 catapults patriot and proud American Major Stanley H. Kruter, a Vietnam War veteran who would do anything in order not to harm his country into a journey of intrigue and madness of which of which he would find no return.

About Paul Cross
Paul began his career in the entertainment industry acting in summer stock, starring in such productions as Come Blow Your Horn, Butterflies Are Free, and Compulsion, amongst others, and the Off-Broadway revival of Redhead. In New York Paul starred in the docu-drama, Sygyzy, which won the New York Film Festival award, and created the role of Panache in the PBS special, Wish It Were Spring. In Hollywood, Paul was soon a regular, doing skits with Bob Hope on his specials. This was followed by roles in miniseries and movies-of-the -week, such as Studs Lonigan, and Amazons, directed by Paul Michael Glaser and portrayed Walter Richards on the prime time soap, Rituals. He then wrote and stared in the feature film, Ice Pawn, which had its worldwide debut at the Cannes Film Festival. Paul starred in Railaway for European television, and has recently appeared in the musicals 1776 and Spoon River. For the past several years besides acting, Paul has written, produced and directed documentaries and feature films which include the award winning documentaries; West End Story, An Anatomy of the Musical Theatre. West End Story, filmed on location in London and New York is the winner of Best Documentary20at the Thunderbird International Film Festival and Best Music Documentary at the New York International Independent Film Festival. The film stars Petual Clark, Lucie Arnaz, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jerome Pradon, Ruthie Henshall, Barbara Dickson and others. Paul’s second documentary, Follow the Leader, filmed at the White House, is the winner of the Atlantic City Film Festival for Best Documentary and stars President George W. Bush, Wolf Blitzer, The Secret Service, Marlin Fitzwater, Ron Nessen, Senator Orrin Hatch, Senator Jim Bunning, Rex Scouten, Eleanor Clift, Letitia Baldrige, and others.
Paul wrote/directed and starred in the feature film Severe Visibility, which is currently in release. Severe Visibility was nominated Best North American Film at the 2007 Kuala Lumpur International Film Festival and was an Official Selection at the New York International Film and Video Festival. Paul is the recipient of the Best Screenplay award for his film script, Champagne & Chocolate at the Thunderbird International Film Festival in Utah.
In 2008 Paul directed, wrote and starred in a documentary filmed in the Philippines with the countries former president Joseph Estrada and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. Currently Paul is starring in two feature films, Unbalanced and an un-titled UFO film still in production. He is the recipient of the prestigious title of Kentucky Colonel bestowed on him by Governor Martha Lane Collins and has a day named after in him in his hometown in Kentucky. www.paulcross.net
