WWGD

About 4 years ago my grandfather passed away.

In his last few years my wife and I had really made a deep connection with him.

All his life he had been fascinated with conspiracy theories and the paranormal.  I think he owned just about every ufo book published at that time.

Anyway, I feel as though I have continued on his journey through the spiral since his death and have been working to be the example to my family and friends.

Through this journey a rift has opened up between me and my parents.  The foundation on which our relationship stood upon was an illusion and on my quest for Truth I had popped that bubble.

Anyway, I can't go back, but I continually encourage my parents to move forward.  I don't preach this stuff, I try to be the example.

Here's a poem I wrote about my grandfather George entitles WWGD (What Would George Do).  I poured my soul into the piece with the intention of waking the dead.  My parents that is.

Here it Goes:

WWGD

We revere him in our memories and honor the time he spent with each of us,
But if we listen
He will tell us that he was just an ordinary man who happened to live amongst extraordinary people.

We’re drawn into the spiraling eddies left in his wake,
But if we listen
He will tell us that it all leads back to the beginning.
Although imitation is the highest form of flattery;
We cannot forget to create new things within ourselves each day.

We measure and cut and hammer and build with tools left behind,
But if we listen
He will tell us that when a tool has served its purpose we need to let it go.
We cannot pick up a new trade in this journey if our hands are always full.

We immerse ourselves in an ocean of novels and books and ancient mysteries,
But if we listen
He will tell us that we already hold all the answers.
We just haven’t yet asked the right questions.

Now we often define ourselves by the rolls we fill,
But if we listen
He will tell us that the rolls in life can sometimes get worn out like a stinky pair of socks.
Eventually we need to change into something new
Or like George,
Kick back and slip into some comfy slippers.

If we hold back our tears or block out the painful memories once joyous,
He will tell us to cry it out until you’re left trembling on the floor.
You are strongest when you are most vulnerable.
Be vulnerable and you will know what it is to be free.

If we hold back our anger and frustrations for him leaving us feeling so abandoned and alone,
He will say, “Have out with it!”
If it tastes bitter then spit.
There is a season for everything.
You’ll never have enough time to invest in your garden if you haven’t yet washing out your gutters.

Now I know he is proud of each and every one of us.
I know this
Because he told me so.
